Andy McGuire, MD, MBA, has been a long-time health care advocate in her community and nationally. She earned her medical doctorate from Creighton University and completed a residency specializing in Nuclear Medicine. Dr. McGuire continued her education with a Master’s in Business Administration. Her experience encompasses clinical and research activity in nuclear medicine including multiple scientific publications and a book chapter. Her passion to serve others led her to pursue administration of medicine as Chief Medical Officer and Chief Executive Officer of a Medicaid plan. Her volunteer activities include serving on multiple boards including Oakridge Neighborhood Association, National Alliance on Mental Illness Iowa, and Interfaith Alliance. Her past board work has included Prairie Meadows, Des Moines Performing Arts, the Des Moines Partnership, and the College of Public Health Board of Advisors at the University of Iowa. She has impacted community health with her work as Co-Chair of the Partnership for Better Health and Vice Chair of the Initiative to Decrease Unintended Pregnancy. She has contributed to health care policy through her work at the Agency for Health Care Quality and Research (AHRQ), and the American Medical Association CPT committee.
Dr. McGuire is a lifelong Iowan living in Des Moines for the last 30 years with her husband, Dr. Dan McGuire, and her 7 children.
