Broadlawns Announces Next Chief Medical Officer Press Release December 10, 2019 Des Moines, IA (December 10, 2019) – Broadlawns Medical Center (BMC) announced today that Yogesh Shah, MD, MPH, FAAFM will serve as the organization’s next Chief Medical Officer and Vice President of Medical Affairs, effective January 6, 2020. Dr. Shah succeeds Vincent Mandracchia, DPM, MHA who is retiring in February 2020 after a twenty-five year career with BMC, including thirteen years in senior leadership. In this leadership role for Broadlawns, Dr. Shah will assume oversight for leading the medical staff, credentialing, quality and risk management and achieving exceptional patient outcomes. “Dr. Yogi Shah is a highly regarded physician who has held numerous leadership positions on health-related boards and nonprofits throughout Iowa. He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from Bombay University in India and completed his residency training in Family Medicine from the Mercy Mayo Residency Program in Des Moines, IA. He completed his Geriatric Fellowship training at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. He earned a Master’s Degree in Public Health from Des Moines University. Dr. Shah joined the medical staff at BMC in September 2016 and practices as a geriatrician in the Broadlawns Geriatric and Memory Center. He is the Founding Director of the Broadlawns Palliative Care Program and serves on the Medical Executive Board and as a faculty member for the Broadlawns Family Medicine Residency Program. Prior to Broadlawns, Dr. Shah was the Associate Dean of Global Health at Des Moines University. Dr. Shah currently serves as a board member on the Iowa Department of Public Health’s Advisory Council, Above + Beyond Cancer, ChildServe and the Des Moines Symphony.
