Kellie Markey, a proven leader in marketing and business development for the first 15 years of her career with expertise in database marketing in agencies in Chicago and San Francisco, before spending five years at eBay leading their installed base communication strategies and later managing the assets and equity investments for eBay International.

In March of 2012, Kellie left for France to walk the Camino de Santiago - a 625-mile journey by foot across the northern coast of Spain. Leaving her boots on the shore at Finis Terre, she returned to her hometown of Des Moines. She decided volunteerism would be a good way to reconnect with the community, make friends and perhaps even find a new career path.

Kellie volunteered by working with teenage girls and it was this experience that led her to become a foster parent. At the time she was flipping homes and literally tripped over the home that would become Dorothy’s House in late 2013 - where until January 2025, Kellie was the Founder and Executive Director fulfilling her mission to create a safe place for women whose lives had been interrupted by human trafficking, exploitation and prostitution.

Kellie was elected to the Broadlawns Board of Trustees in 2025 for a six-year term.
