'It’s Hard to Put In Words the Impact and Safety We Felt': First Time Parents Reflect on Their Broadlawns Birthing Experience March 21, 2022 Ready to Become First-time Parents Brad and Catherine were excited to become first-time parents. The Kruegers both work in the medical field as clinical sales reps. Brad is one of our clinical reps for our da Vinci robot. Brad first met Dr. Amy Bingaman in 2013 because of robotic surgery. After learning about the vision and values of Broadlawns, the Kruegers said, "It was an easy decision for us to have our future family there." When Catherine's water broke, the couple entered Broadlawn's Birthing Center on a Tuesday afternoon. As Catherine’s labor continued for two days, they were faced with a decision. Ultimately, the Kruegers decided to move ahead with a C-section. "We were nervous as this was our first child and didn’t really know what exactly to expect. I had a tough laboring experience throughout those two days and wasn’t able to follow through with my original birth plan. I eventually had to have a C-section on Thursday morning. What made my pain, tears, fever, and the unknown more comfortable, was the quality of care from the nursing staff and Dr. Bingaman. Specifically their knowledge and compassion for a first-time mom and Dr. Amy answering all of my questions to ease our minds. It’s hard to put in words the impact and safety we felt because of the labor and delivery nurses that we were teamed with during our five nights. The love for their job shined through and made this such a positive and memorable experience for us!" Ironically, their baby boy was born in our da Vinci operating room. Dad, baby, and Dr. Amy Bingaman were able to pose for a photo alongside our new da Vinci robot. Dr. Bingaman's support was especially crucial during Catherine's C-Section. "The pictures say it all! Dr. Amy held me as I was about to have a spinal tap while I was emotional and scared to have surgery following almost two days of labor. Although Dr. Amy was why we came to Broadlawns in the beginning, we’ll be back because of the dedication from the entire team." A Happy Ending More than 36 hours after labor had begun, the Kruegers welcomed baby Brooks into the world. "We can’t wait to have the rest of our children there and will be forever grateful for the team and quality of care we had throughout the week! Thank you all for prioritizing patient care and the positive culture you have built at Broadlawns Medical Center! A special thank you to the nurses, CRNA, and doctors who helped us before, during, and after the birth of our son – Isabella (Bella), Brogan, Mendy, Carmen, Kendra, Alex, Kylie, CRNA Joe, Dr. Amy, & Dr. Allard! They were all incredible!" Learn More about broadlawns birthing center
